Moving Love – In Conversation (EN)

Interactive dialogue on safety, identity, love, and the right to be yourself.

Queer refugees worldwide still face insecurity, exclusion, and the loss of fundamental human rights. During this interactive afternoon, Impact Makers, Cocktail Midden-Nederland (part of COC Midden-Nederland), and De Voorkamer will engage visitors in conversations around themes such as safety, identity, love, and the right to exist authentically. Central to the event are the films created within the Moving Love project: ten short cinematic diptychs made by queer refugees, portraying their personal journeys—about leaving and arriving, visibility and concealment, fear and hope. For queer refugees, the starting point, the journey itself, and even the destination are rarely secure.

And yet, the need to love often overcomes the fear of consequences. Sandro Kortekaas, founder of the support organization LGBT Asylum Support, will share insights on the current situation for queer refugees in the Netherlands and beyond. This afternoon offers space for meeting, conversation, and exchange. Moderator Aisha Tusa will facilitate the dialogue. Anyone who sees themselves reflected in these themes, is engaged with them, or wishes to learn more is warmly invited to participate.
