Gendercafé: HALLOWEEN mask-making workshop!
Across history, masks have been used in rituals, protests, performances, and celebrations. They can carry queer meanings, letting us play with identity, explore transformation, and step into different versions of ourselves. Masks can be for protection, for celebration, or for becoming our fabulous queer selves.
In this workshop, we’ll explore some of that history and then create our own Halloween masks! You’ll get the chance to design and decorate using different techniques.
We’ll provide the materials as much as possible. You’re also welcome to bring things you’d like to include in your mask design, or to share.
(Think fabrics, feathers, beads, collaged words/images, markers, etc.)
Not into doing something hands-on? Just want a drink and a talk? You’re very welcome to join us all evening. Gendercafe is a great place to hang out and meet trans and non-binary community!
Sure you wanna join us? Please sign up by DM.
